Since I’ve been in a new city, I’ve been doing a lot of walking around to check everything out and get my bearings.
It’s been lovely too.
I’ve seen a lot of Vancouver and I must admit I’m smitten.
Yes, I miss home and I’m not a fan of all the rain here, but it’s a pretty darn nice city.
And one thing I’ve noticed is they really seem to value animals here.
Yesterday I went to the conservatory and saw all the parrots. They had a lot.
Last week I went to the aquarium and saw all the otters and penguins.
As I walked along the seawall, I also couldn’t help but notice that the seagulls were huge compared to the ones back home. These monster gulls also don’t give a flying fig about humans, and they will drive you back if you get into their space. The seagulls back home are wimps; the ones here are seriously fierce.
Vancouver people also love their dogs. I swear I’ve seen every dog breed imaginable on the street and on the elevator of the condominium unit I’m staying in. They are all good boys and girls too. Soooo cute.
The only thing lacking here seems to be cats. I haven’t seen a single cat since I’ve been here, which is probably good as it means they are all snuggled up safe at home.
But I miss seeing cats.
Which probably means it’s time to hop on a flight and get home to my own. And, get back to my writing.
Saturday, I will do that.
Miss you, buddy. See you soon!
