Another way to write a funny piece is to poke fun at yourself.
People love to laugh at other people.
Sad, but true.
Using self-deprecating humor also has the advantage of not getting you in trouble as the one you’re poking fun at is, uh, you. And you can’t get mad at yourself. I mean you could, but you probably wouldn’t. Right?
Anyway.
Other people will laugh at self-deprecating humor as often they can relate to it. I think it makes them feel better about themselves.
This type of humor means you can tell others things like,
It’s garbage day tomorrow. It’s so lovely to have a full day dedicated just to me.
Or
Have you that Bill Gates is fascinated by me? Yeah, he’s interested in studying failure.
Both of which prove that I like self-deprecating humor, but I’m not really that good at using it.
But it doesn’t mean I won’t keep on trying.
Onward.
