Today is International Coffee Day. Yep, that’s a real thing.
So, Happy International Coffee Day, everyone!
I was actually going to write a cute, funny post about how ridiculous I find this.
But then I went to the International Coffee Day site and saw that “the coffee price crisis has been compounded by the Covid-19 pandemic and as such, there is not only a serious threat to the livelihoods of coffee farmers today, but also a dramatic risk to the future of coffee tomorrow.”
I also read how, “female entrepreneurs have been disproportionately affected by these challenges, particularly in producing countries.”
I can’t in all good consciousness make light of a day that celebrates an industry that’s in peril.
Damn, pandemic. Ruining all my fun again. 😉
Instead I think I’ll go out and buy someone a coffee. And perhaps I’ll make a donation too.
So, go drink your coffee everyone and enjoy, because you’re helping an entire industry with every sip.
It’s a win-win.
And what could be better than that?
