I’ve been staying in a hotel for the last week, and because of the restrictions still going on where I’m staying, I haven’t been able to go out a lot.
It’s been fine.
Even nice in some ways.
But what I’ve really been noticing on this trip is how little one actually needs on a day-to-day basis.
I have a small kitchen where I am staying, and I’ve done one quick grocery shopping. I bought a total of ten things, and I’ve been set for days. In contrast, at home, my fridge is full.
This place only supplies a dish-set with four settings, and honestly, it’s been more than enough. At home, I have enough dishes to feed sixteen simultaneously. I use them maybe twice a year.
In the bathroom here, I have three towels. I’ve only used one.
I have about six skincare products and makeup bottles on my bathroom sink here. I’ve only used about four. I have a cupboard with three shelves full of the stuff at home.
And finally, I only have the clothes that’ll fit into one suitcase for a week. I have no laundry facilities, and I haven’t missed a thing.
This has led me to wonder why I own so much stuff.
I obviously don’t need it, and having it just means I spend too much time taking care of it.
So.
I’ve decided when I get home I need to get rid of a few things.
Seriously, I need to purge.
I read somewhere recently that if you’re not using something at least once a month or you don’t love it, you should get rid of it.
Well, I need to get rid of more than a few things.
I need to get rid of MANY things.
Many, many, many things.
And when I get home, I’m going to do just that.
Look out, family, mama’s coming home soon, and she’s on a mission!
